A Note From Parish Ed

By Ruth Brighton

 Fall Adult Bible Classes

(look for additional classes with description in the weekly bulletin)

Galatians - Lutherans emphasize that salvation comes from grace “alone” through faith “alone”.  But if we add to this any requirement for salvation, Paul shouts “Stop”.  Paul writes to the churches in Galatia as a Pastor deeply concerned that his people are straying from the pure gospel and urges them to return to the true faith.  As so many people and churches today are adding requirements to the gospel; “you have to do this and you must not do that”, it is good to hear the warnings and encouragement that Paul had for the       Galatians and for us. Leader: Dave Sonnenberg

A Man Named Martin, Part 3: The Movement - The Movement will show how the Reformation accelerated the transformation of a world already in flux. While armed conflicts, theological disputes, and heated controversies marked segments of society throughout medieval Europe, the march of the Reformation left its imprint on the face of culture and citizen alike.            Everything from education, politics, science, theology, marriage, and the    family-and even extending to one's view of vocation and his relationship to God-came under the shaping and seminal influence of the Reformation. According to Rev. Dr. Gregory Seltz, program host for The Lutheran Hour, "The greatest thing about the Reformation are the solas: grace alone, faith alone, Christ alone, Scripture alone because … it establishes the worth of a human being before God in a way that can't be done by people; it's done by God in Jesus Christ." Final study of the three part series.

Leader: Ron Niesen
