Community Service

Get involved at CMLC through volunteering in one of our many Community Service Ministries.  It’s a great way to meet others who have a heart for service.

At CMLC, our Community Service programs offer a variety of opportunities to get involved right in our own backyard and share God’s love with others.  Some examples of our Community Service projects include but are not limited to the following:

+ American Red Cross - Blood Drive

We all expect blood to be there for us, but barely a fraction of those who can give do. Yet sooner or later, virtually all of us will face a time of great vulnerability in which we will need blood. And that time is all too often unexpected.

Why does CMLC sponsor a drive? Because it is both a simple and a powerful way to serve our community and allow members to get involved. Together with CMLC you can make a difference!

+ American Troop Support Team – Girl Scout Cookies

In an effort to demonstrate our support for the dedicated men and women of our armed forces, CMLC holds an annual Girl Scout cookie fund raiser in which members of the church have an opportunity to purchase cookies for the troops.  In addition to the cookies, a hand written note is attached expressing our prayers and appreciation for their selfless gift of fighting for freedom around the world.

+ Amnion Crisis Pregnancy Center – Baby Bottles

Amnion Crisis Pregnancy Center has been helping women in crisis since 1991. In that time, they have had the opportunity to provide over 2,500 pregnancy tests and peer counseling to more than 3,000 women and teenagers.  All of Amnion services are totally free of charge and very confidential.

AT CMLC, we distribute baby bottles in an effort to raise both money and awareness to support this important initiative.  Monies collected help to defray the costs for prevention, pregnancy and support services.

+ Bellingham Assisted Living – Visits

Bellingham is an adult assisted living community in Chester County.  Many of these residents do not have family members.  At periodic holidays, CMLC makes personal visits and distributes gift bags with personalized cards for the residents.

+ Good Works

Good Works is a Christian nonprofit organization which exists to improve the living conditions for low-income families in Chester County, PA. They transform substandard houses into warmer, safer, and drier homes; and despair into hope. Our services are offered to homeowners at no cost and volunteers do most of the repairs.

Their goal is to see the inhabitants of these homes rise above their level of poverty and experience a richness through being cared for and knowing that their circumstances matter to their community.

AT CMLC, we provide physical labor to help with home repairs on the second Saturday of every month and financial support by adopting a needed family at Christmas time.

+ Orphan Grain Train

+ Safe Harbor of Greater West ChesterFood Drive

Safe Harbor of Greater West Chester is a non-profit charitable organization whose mission is to provide shelter, food, friendship, counseling and referral opportunities to the men and women of Chester County who have slipped through public and personal support systems and fallen into the homeless culture of our city streets.

At CMLC, we collect food donations during the year for this organization.

+ Salvation Army – Providing & Serving home cooked meals

The Salvation Army, an international movement, is an evangelical part of the universal Christian church. Its message is based on the Bible. Its ministry is motivated by the love of God. Its mission is to preach the gospel of Jesus Christ and to meet human needs in His name without discrimination.

At CMLC, small groups and families prepare and serve a dinner for 30-40 homeless people six-times a year. This home cooked meal service has been an essential part of their ministry to help meet our local community needs.

+ Thanksgiving Dinner Baskets

At CMLC our family is very blessed.  In an effort to show our thankfulness for these blessings we invite our members to provide a complete Thanksgiving Day meal for a Chester County family who is less fortunate than us.  Every year a different organization is the recipient of these meals.

+ Vacation Bible School

During the June program, a portion of the daily offerings in addition to donated garments are giving to support the Orphan Grain Train.

+ West Chester Borough Park Clean-up - Everhart Park

CMLC partnered with The West Chester Recreation Department to help clean and prepare Everhart Park for their May Day Festival.

There are many ways here at Christ Memorial Lutheran Church to serve by giving God the Glory.  Please consider being a volunteer and make our community stronger and better by reaching out in love to those in need.
